Son of God! – The Movie

Go see this movie! I know you’ve seen Jesus movies before, and I know you know the story, but this time it’s being told by members of our kingdom family. So we need to support that so we can continue to tell the stories God wants us to tell and the world needs to see.

I saw this movie a week ago with my Authentic Life Church (ALC) family and we really enjoyed seeing it with each other. However, I really don’t like watching the crucifixion scenes because I get angry when they torture Jesus, but so grateful at His resurrection. It’s a big emotional ride for me! This time was no different with one exception. During the crucifixion scenes, I asked God if I could just get up and walk out of the theatre, but my legs wouldn’t move. After trying to move many times and my legs not moving, I just let the emotions flow and I asked Jesus, “What were you thinking about as they tortured you?” Jesus replied, “I was thinking of you.”  I can’t explain the overflow of appreciation and gratitude that flowed from me hearing that. I couldn’t move so I just sat there, let my tears flow as I thought I was going to burst wide open. It felt like more than I could contain.

Fast forward to today’s Sunday morning service. Our praise team was singing a song called “I Will Love You Forever, Lord”. As I sang along with them, my movie experience came to my mind so I began to tell God how much I love Him, how much I need Him because I cannot do this life mission on my own. Then I began to see all the “little” miracles and blessings that I have received just this year alone! I say “little” because we have the tendency to lose sight of the daily miracles that we receive because our eyes are on the “big” things that have not manifested yet. Satan has a way of deflecting our minds away.

Then when it came time for special music, one of our church members who is not a part of our praise team, was introduced to sing. I know her from my former church and she can saaaaang! My daughter and I (and everyone else that has ever heard her sing) have been praying for her to sing since our new church ALC started in October 2013! She began to sing the same song (I Will Love You Forever Lord) that the praise team sang earlier in the service. For a second I wondered why is she singing the same song and then she opened not only her mouth, but her soul and began to pour out like only she can do. She sounded like an angel in heaven! My soul was lifted up so high that if felt like I was floating on air. It was amazing! If that wasn’t good enough, she began to direct the musicians in how to play (intensity levels) the notes and when. She then called on the various praise team members one by one as God instructed her and brought them onstage to join her. They seemed to be caught off guard so they had to flow with her and God. They did, and you could feel God moving like wind in the sanctuary!

So, each of us as we listened did the same thing. We opened up not only our mouths, but our souls and spirits, so how we felt about God could come pouring over our lips in a manner that we hadn’t done in a very long time. God met us all where we were today and each of us was touched forever. I look forward to seeing the harvests manifest from this seed sown today!

All of us should be pressing for the many promises that God has made to us to manifest. I know I am pressing to live inside of my dreams. I am pressing to live a “dream come true” life. However, we cannot lose sight of all the miracles and blessings that have already manifested in our lives and those that manifest everyday. Today I make that decision. God has done miraculous things in my life, and if you know me you know what I’m talking about, and it’s only just getting started! What amazing things has God done in your life?

So in the resurrection season, please don’t forget about all of the blessings and miracles you already have as you believe and pull in the ones you still want and need. All of us want better for our lives, but don’t forget how blessed you are today.

Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that the thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy but he came that we may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, til it overflows. God also tells us in Psalms 37:4 that if you delight yourself in Him, He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

God knows that there are many things that you want to do in this life. He knows because He is the one who planted that desire in you. But know, believe, and walk in the knowledge that God has not forgotten you. He told you that in Deuteronomy 31:6.

So in this season celebrate all that God has brought you through, and share your testimonies of celebration with us.

I saw this movie, and even though I’ve seen a few versions of Jesus’ story, this one actually moved me to tears; it finally kinda sunk in, I guess. But the major take away I got from the movie was just how happy Jesus always was to see us… In the movie, He was always so happy to be around His disciples and to see them; as if He knew something about them that they didn’t. It resonated in me that it doesn’t matter that we messed up 5mins ago or missed it completely or whatever; He still enjoys us and who we are where we are; knowing that much better is down the pike for us, and that we’ll be better! *gets off preacher’s box* But, it was very encouraging and reminded me to get out of the “everything-has-to-be-perfect-to-please-God” mindset.

I like that Deut 31:6 scripture. I’ll definitely be posting that up somewhere in my apt to remind me of that truth! I think I’ll stand on that scripture while my harvests manifest… =)

I total agree with you. You would think that knowing all He had to endure, the shortcomings of those around Him, and how they would betray Him that Jesus would have been a lot grumpier right? Jesus truly loves like no othe!. In regards to posting the scripture around your apartment – Go ahead girl and workdatword! Keep us posted on how it works for you.

I have always been moved by the story of Jesus. This time was so special because I saw the “Son Of God” with my ACL family. We had fellowship at morning service, broke bread together at lunch and witnessed Jesus doing exactly what Pastor Lester is teaching on……the church being a community and meeting one another’s needs. Of course Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life for our sins. I can only imagine what life would be like if we emulated Jesus one fourth of the time.
Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds me that I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) In other words, He has my back!
    I am workingdatword!

That’s great Dawn. The ALC experience has been answered prayer! I think we should ask ourselves daily how we can increase our Christ likeness. I would definitely need the help of the Holy Spirit for that one! How about you?

I need the Trinity! I will say that the more I concentrate on gratitude in my daily walk the more I find myself thinking of others because the gratitude makes me realize that there go I except for the grace of God.

Amen. Gratitude helps us see just how blessed we really are. No matter what challenges we are currently facing, things could always be worst and if Satan had his way they would be. The blood of Jesus protects us from a lot of attacks that we never even see.
